There Is An Enchanting Waterfront Trail In Indiana You Absolutely Must Hike

There's something about the great outdoors in the Hoosier State that's simply magical; it doesn't even matter which season it is, there's always something wonderful going on outside, be it a festival, a trail, a park, or anything else. An idyllic example is what could be the best hike near Indianapolis, Indiana that's nothing short of a peaceful adventure. This seven-mile-long loop trail promises plenty of wonders - hike the whole thing or just part of it and experience it for yourself!

The Eagle Creek Red Trail (short loop) is a four-mile adventure that leads hikers to all the best amenities the park has to offer.

It's a remarkably well-kept trail that can get muddy in some places, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear.

The hike is an absolute treat, with some jaw-dropping views of Lily Lake and gorgeous examples of what makes the outdoors in Indiana so great.

This is the short loop, which is just over four miles long and leads to features such as an equipment rental facility (which has a snack bar), a nature center, and more.

There's also a marina area in case you decide to grab a kayak and explore the lake.

Should you make no stops (what's the fun in that though?), the hike is expected to take about an hour and a half.

The park is open early in the morning and closes in the early evening, so there's plenty of time to explore.

It's a popular destination for hikers, bike riders, and other outdoorsy folks, so be prepared to share the trail with a few other folks.

The views alone are worth the effort.

The surrounding forest is, in some places, incredibly old, assumed to be more than 200-years-old -- making it truly legitimate old-growth woods right here in the Midwest.

Come out and see why Eagle Creek Park is considered one of the downright best in the entire Hoosier State!

The trails are perfect for doing exactly that.
