It's summer, so if you're anything like me, you are yearning to get out to a beautiful place. But not all of us have the time or money to slip away to paradise in another country (or state, for that matter). Fortunately, there is a wonderful slice of paradise right here in Illinois.

1. This park has the only remaining beach ridge shoreline in Illinois.
