Inspiration Point in southern Illinois offers stunning panoramic views and a serene hiking experience.

As the population grows, and the internet makes our world increasingly smaller, there are few places that are unknown or remote. But if you want to get away from it all in Illinois, there is one spot you have to check out: Inspiration Point. This gorgeous place is set out in southern Illinois. Even people who are in the area might not get out here. But that would be a mistake. Bring a sandwich, because you should prepare to sit up here awhile once you find it.

As anyone who has been in the Shawnee National Forest knows, beauty abounds. But you might not know to take this quick .8 mile hike located by Wolf Lake.

It is a climb, and the cliffs can get a little bit dangerous, especially if you aren't wearing good footwear.

If you make the hike, prepare for panoramic views of the Mississippi River valley and the Big Muddy bottomlands.

This place is called "Inspiration Point" because so many people have been inspired just sitting up here. The beauty, and the fact that you are surrounded by nature, will move you.

I mean, seriously, this is your view. Tell me where you can get a better view in all of Illinois.
