Idaho's "City of Trees" is home to all sorts of surprises. The bustling capital city is the perfect blend of urban and natural life, with little spots of nature to be found in the least unexpected places. A great example of this is the Boise rose garden featured here. Tucked away in the middle of downtown, this rose garden is home to thousands of rose bushes and it's a delightful surprise in one of the state's most urbanized places. Take a moment to stop and smell the roses and be sure to check out this lovely rose garden hiding in our state.

Whether you live in Boise or you're simply passing through, consider a stop at the Julia Davis Rose Garden a must. This little natural oasis sits smack dab in the middle of downtown and it's the perfect spot to slow down and simply be present.

The rose garden in Julia Davis Park is notable for several reasons. First of all, it's considered the second oldest rose garden in the Northwest and the largest in the Intermountain region. And to think it was hiding out here all this time!

Originally established in the 1930s, the magnificent garden is home to over 2,400 spectacular rose bushes. Carefully placed among beautiful manicured lawns and hedges, the garden is simply picturesque.

The garden is worth visiting by itself, but you'll find that it's conveniently situated near great Boise destinations like Zoo Boise, the Boise Art Museum, and the Idaho Historical Museum. If you find yourself visiting any of these places, a stroll through the garden is a must!

Located right in the middle of the garden is a gorgeous gazebo where you can sit and take in the sight of the roses. Take a moment to sit, breathe in the intoxicating fragrance of flowers, and simply enjoy the serene environment.

The roses are definitely well taken care of and the garden is a beauty to behold all year round. However, you'll find that the roses are usually in full bloom during June or July.

Entrance to the garden is free, so be sure to keep this Boise jewel in mind the next time you need to kill a few hours or simply unplug from the world for a little bit.
