Hawaii is home to some of the country’s greatest waterfront spots; from restaurants and harbors to piers, lookout points, rock formations and bridges, the Hawaiian Islands have it all. The islands are surrounded by the beautiful Pacific Ocean, after all. Here are 16 of the best waterfront spots in Hawaii, excluding all those amazing beaches. Though – let’s be honest – it’s hard to find a waterfront spot in Hawaii that isn’t absolutely brilliant.

1) The gorgeous turquoise water near Kilauea Point Lighthouse makes it a wonderful spot to watch the waves crash against the shore.

2) A short hike down to Lanai’s Sweetheart Rock makes for a memorable afternoon.

3) A walk near the Lahaina Harbor at sunset with your significant other would make for a lovely romantic memory.

4) Known as China Walls, this beautiful portlock in Hawaii Kai is a popular spot for cliff jumping and swimming.

5) Is there anything better than a sunset view over the ocean paired with a romantic dinner at Merriman's?

6) Laie Point, located on Oahu’s eastern shore, is a wonderful little peninsula lined with vacation rentals, stellar views, and some great cliff jumping spots.

7) I don’t personally understand the appeal of chlorine over salt water, but I have to admit that this Big Island pool has a pretty cool view.

8) This recreational pier in Waimea is simple, yet beautiful.

9) The Ford Island Bridge is truly magnificent – but you can only get across with a Military ID, or sponsor.

10) This now-abandoned wharf in Maui would be ideal for a stunning photo shoot.

14) While this Waikiki spot is not necessarily accessible to everyone – or safe for that matter – it is atop the water, and I’d say that’s pretty cool.
