Nestled in a highly urban area of Hawaii’s capital city, the Foster Botanical Garden is a gorgeous retreat and a refreshing change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu.
This incredible slice of paradise is the oldest of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens and features a mature and impressive collection of tropical plants.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Foster Botanical Garden dates back more than 160 years, and is home to stunning plants as well as some fascinating history.
Some of the magnificent trees you’ll find in this 14-acre garden were planted in the 1850s by Dr. William Hillebrand — that’s more than a century before Hawaii became an American state!
Guided tours of the garden are offered daily at 10:30 a.m., and reservations are encouraged.
You can also take a self-guided tour of the garden so you can go at your own pace. The self-guided tour is included with your visitor map.
