You can kayak down this stunning river trail all the way to the walking path that brings you to the famous Fern Grotto. This is a wonderful morning or afternoon trip.
This kayaking adventure is about four miles, out and back.
It’s a flat, relatively placid river to kayak, and you’ll see many beautiful sights along the way. Keep your camera handy, but put it into a dry bag to keep it safe during your journey.
Heading to the grotto will be the quicker kayaking trip.
On the way back you’ll be paddling upstream. It’s not hard, you’ll just have more movement against the current to bring you back to your starting point.
The path will take you through a stunning, unique forest.
Sometimes the path can be muddy, so be sure to wear good sturdy footwear. The entire kayaking trip is about 45 minutes to the grotto, 45 minutes back, and plan for around an hour exploring the lush gardens.
The grotto can be viewed from an observation platform, where you can see the entire area in all of its glory.
This is known as one of the most romantic spots on Kauai. In fact, many couples have rented this area for a wedding ceremony.
The lush tropical gardens will leave you in awe as you hike around the area.
If you have family members that would prefer not to kayak, there are many river tour boats that you can use instead. But if you’re up for an adventure, make sure to rent your own kayak and get out on the water!
