This Georgia Nature Center Makes For The Perfect Family Day Trip

No matter the season, there's something special about a visit to a nature center in Georgia. We have a number of great nature sanctuaries here. Some are home to non-releasable native animals, some have natural history museums on-site, others are simply preserved areas of land. These are wonderful family day trips at any time of year. They're great educational opportunities for kids and adults alike - after all, we all could stand to learn a little more about the world that surrounds us! One of our favorite nature centers in the Peach State is Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center. It's right in the bustling metropolis of Columbus, GA, but visiting here will make you feel like you were magically transported to a much less developed area. It's a lovely place for a stroll and getting in touch with nature. Check it out:

The Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center is a wonderful place that the entire family can enjoy. The park is free to enter, though a donation of $5 is suggested.

It's located right at the edge of the Columbus RiverWalk, but you'll feel miles away from the city as you stroll through the grounds here.

Each of the trails here are easy, flat, and under a mile in length. They're great for taking the little ones out for a stroll!

The marshes and pond mean there's a wide variety of flora and fauna on display: you never know what you'll come across here.

Inside the center, you'll find a variety of exhibits with information about some of the species that live in the area.

There's even a collection of live critters on display!

This is such a great day trip that the entire family can enjoy.
