Believe it or not, the largest camel herd in Georgia is nestled in the foothills of Cartersville. Pettit Creek Farms is home to a standard array of farm animals as well as an extensive array of exotic animals including giraffes, zebras, capybaras, lemurs, llamas, and more.
Pettit Creek Farm offers drive-through tours of the farm daily, on which you'll see (and when safe, interact with) animals of all kinds.
This is a working farm so reservations are required for a visit between January and August. The Farm also hosts events such as family parties, corporate retreats, and church gatherings.
Tours are $30 per carload, when purchased in advance, and a bag of feed to give the animals is an additional $10, when purchased in advance. Visitors can feed giraffes, camels, and other animals during the visit.
Animals may be the main attraction here at Pettit but ziplining is a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of the 80-acre farm, and let's be honest, have a ton of fun.
Pettit Creek Farm is a family run operation. The Allens have owned and operated the property since 1945. The original owners Raymond & Fannie Mae grew cotton, corn, and had mules. Now their great grandchildren continue producing food and raising animals, the animals are just a little more exotic!
Pettit Creek is also known for its holiday events. Halloween is celebrated with gusto (and costumes), Fall is heralded with a robust pumpkin patch, and Christmas means an elaborate light show and a live nativity scene. Word is Santa's reindeer also make an appearance.
Education is just as important at Pettit Creek Farms as entertainment. With more than 20 different species from South America to Africa on site, it's the perfect spot for students and school groups to learn about the natural world.
Pettit Creek Farms allows families, students, and individuals to learn about and interact with species from all over the world, right here in Georgia. After a fun animal meet-and-greet, you can take a zipline ride or roast s'mores on the property. It's guaranteed to be a memorable experience.
