You’ll Fall In Love With The Tiny Waterfall Hiding Along This Breathtaking Georgia Trail

Few natural wonders are more impressive than waterfalls, but when it comes to waterfalls, many are under the false impression that bigger is always better. Sure, there's something incredible about seeing behemoths like Amicalola Falls or Cochran Falls, but even the Peach State's tiny waterfalls are still quite charming. One lesser-known waterfall that occasionally slows to just a trickle is Keown Falls in LaFayette, GA. If the weather's been dry, the cascade here is more like a small drip, but the Keown Falls Trail is a great hike with beautiful scenery. Check it out:

Your experience at the waterfall may be dramatically different depending on its current flow rate, but even when it's at its slowest, this is a beautiful trail.

The 1.8-mile loop trail is considered moderately challenging thanks to some rocky areas and mild elevation gain, but the views are certainly worth the effort.

You'll find the trail within the Johns Mountain Wildlife Management Area, a massive preserve of nearly 25,000 acres that spans through several counties. It's primarily used as a hunting and fishing area, but it's also got some wonderful trails.

While it's certainly not among the most powerful or impressive waterfalls in the Peach State, Keown Falls is a beautiful sight.

You'll definitely want to wear waterproof footwear if you visit after rains, as it can get pretty muddy here.

With a bit of scrambling, you can get right up underneath the falls.

These views are certainly gorgeous!
