Amicalola Falls via the East Ridge Loop Trail is a two-mile hike outside of Marble Hill, Georgia, north of Atlanta, near the Chattahoochee National Forest. The trail is popular, and it is easy to see why. This short hike takes you to views of incredible waterfalls and breathtaking forest overviews and is an unbelievable chance to see changing fall foliage at certain times of the year. It's time to lace up your favorite hiking boots and head on over to Amicalola Falls for a first-class hike.
Amicalola Falls is Georgia's tallest waterfall, stretching over 700 feet tall! Located in Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge, the park covers over 800 acres of beautiful Georgia forest and will be a sight to remember.
The trail starts in the state park. Interestingly, you will be starting from the same place as those brave enough to attempt the Appalachian Trail begin their months-long journey.
If you are feeling extra adventurous, you can take the 604 steps up to the top of the falls to get even more perspective on this amazing waterfall. The views are well worth all those steps if you have the energy!
Dogs are also welcome here, although they must be kept on a leash. Your dog will surely enjoy a day out in the crisp Georgia mountain air, and will appreciate the views as much as you do!
From the top, if you can peel your eyes away from Amicalola Falls, you are also rewarded with views of acres of pristine Georgia forest.
This trail is accessible year-round and is a favorite of many Georgia locals and visitors. We recommend getting an early start to beat the crowds.
Whether waterfall hikes are a favorite pastime of yours or you are seeking out your first one, Amicalola Falls is a great choice. With a well-marked trail and views you won't want to forget, Amicalola Falls is one of our favorite hikes in Georgia.
