We recently told you about some amazing swimming holes in Florida, so we figured we'd even things out with the man-made alternatives. Nothing beats the Florida heat like a trip to a water park. These parks are tons of fun for everyone in the family, not just the kids, and less tormentingly hot than the dry theme parks can be in the summer.

1. Adventure Island

This 30-acre water park in Tampa is right across from Busch Gardens, so it's a perfect vacation combo.

2. Rapids Water Park

Rapids in Riviera Beach, FL, opened in 1979, and has all the usual water park favorites: a wave pool, 35 water slides, and a lazy river. If the price and long lines are a problem, try asking about the reduced-cost tickets for entry late in the day. They're a lot less expensive, and there should be fewer people.

3. Blizzard Beach

Blizzard Beach is at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. The whole park was made to look like a ski resort that melted into a water park!

4. Calypso Bay Waterpark

Calypso Bay in Royal Palm Beach is perfect for kids still too little to enjoy the huge monster slides of other parks. It's more like a playground in the water.

5. LEGOLAND Water Park

Fans of the colorful toy bricks will adore the Legoland Waterpark in Winter Haven. This park is very charming and has something fun for every age group.

6. Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon is another park in the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. This one made to look like a tropical paradise that has been hit by a huge storm. It features one of the world's largest outdoor wave pools.

7. Castaway Island

Located inside Topeekeegee Yugnee Park in Broward County, Castaway Island is another more laid-back, less extreme water park perfect for younger kids. Plus it's nice to have a marina and campground nearby.

8. Wet 'n Wild

Wet 'n Wild opened in 1977 in Orlando and is considered America's first water park. It specializes in the extreme, but with its enormous size it has plenty of fun for everyone.

9. Shipwreck Island

This tropical-themed park in Panama City Beach has lots of water slides, simulated rapids, a wave pool, and a zip line jump, among other attractions.

10. Sun Splash

This water park in Cape Coral is about half the size of the big parks for about half the price. If you're looking for something more low-key, and less expensive for a fun day with the kiddos, you should check it out.

11. Aquatica

This Seaworld sister park in Orlando is expensive, but packs a punch. If you're a die-hard water park fan willing to pay more for the ultimate experience, this is it. It features creative slides and wave pools, beautiful surroundings, and interactive animal exhibits.
