This Historic Park in Florida Turns Into a Fortress of Fear During Halloween
This spooky state park in Florida turns into a Halloween wonderland, featuring bone-chilling cryptids from around the world.
Many of us wouldn't immediately think of visiting a Florida state park for thrills this Halloween season. Honestly, if I were searching for a place to celebrate this time of year, I would overlook these destinations as well. However, some state parks are turning into Halloween wonderlands, filled with both magical and sometimes downright terrifying events and attractions. And this year, you don’t want to miss the ghostly fun.
There is one historic state park in Florida that is as beautiful as it gets, but once October rolls around...things will change. From haunted walks to trick-or-treat to spooky games, and more, Ravine Gardens State Park transforms into a haunting fortress of fear just in time for the scary season. Grab your costumes (or come as you are) to enjoy a day of spooktacular fun at the best state park in Florida to celebrate Halloween.

Ravine Gardens is one of the most beloved hidden gem parks in the entire state. It’s home to one of our favorite botanical gardens in Florida. And if you haven’t been to see the blooming azaleas, you’ll want to add that to your list this coming spring. While there are lots of reasons to visit this gorgeous park, let me give you another: to celebrate Halloween, of course!

During one weekend in October, everything that is beautiful about this state park turns into a Halloween Spooktacular that the entire family will love. On Saturday, October 18, Ravine Gardens State Park will transform into the playground of "Cryptids from Around the World." If you dare, come and hike the haunted trails filled with ghosts, ghouls, and the most bone-chilling creatures that you can imagine.

This fun, family-friendly event features games, creepy storytelling, live entertainment, and the kids will love trick-or-treating inside the historic park. Of course, food and candy vendors will be there handing out Halloween treats. The entire spooktacular event will take place within the park, and you can expect festive decorations and lots of creepy oddities.
You can even stroll through the park on the haunted trail for a more terrifying adventure. The large oak trees here are draped in Spanish Moss, which makes the trail look haunted, especially when crossing the suspension bridge. If you can imagine yourself exploring the scariest side of the park, then you don't want to miss this event.
While the park is usually an attraction for many due to the steep ravines, which are a permanent feature that never dries out, due to the spring-fed creek, for one day, this natural gem transforms into a fortress of fear that only the brave ones dare to explore. You don't want to miss all the haunting festivities at Ravine Gardens State Park this year. If you ask me, it's one of the best state parks in Florida to celebrate Halloween.
The Halloween Spooktacular at Ravine Gardens takes place Saturday, October 18, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The state park is located at 1600 Twigg Street, Palatka, FL 32177. The fees to enter the park are $5 per person, while kids under 3 are free. To find out more information about the event, visit the Ravine Gardens website.
