I'm a big fan of urban parks - I feel like they don't get nearly enough love. We have a lot of state parks in Connecticut, and many of them are quite remote and perfect for when you want to immerse yourself in hundreds of acres of nature. However, skipping out on our many city parks in the Nutmeg State is a huge mistake. These spots may lack the sprawling size of many of our state parks, but that doesn't mean they're not worthy of an adventure in their own way. It can be so magical to escape from a metropolitan area and immerse yourself in a park without even leaving the city. One of our favorite urban parks in Connecticut is Cove Island Park in Stamford, CT. This may be one of the largest cities in the state, but the Cove Island Park Loop Trail is the perfect way to enjoy a touch of the natural world right inside the city. Check it out:
Cove Island Park spans 83 acres. It's located right on Long Island Sound, so there's plenty of waterfront views to enjoy.
The loop around the park is only about 1.1 miles, and there's very little elevation gain. It's a great option for those who aren't in the best of shape but want to do some outdoor exploration.
In all, it'll only take you about 20 minutes to walk all the way around the park, and the scenery is lovely.
The park also offers two sandy beaches, a tennis court, a basketball court, a grassy area, and two softball fields.
This is one of the best parks in Stamford, CT, and it's such a wonderful spot for a long stroll.
A walk out in nature always seems to clear your head and bring about a sense of tranquility, no matter what sort of stresses life throws at you.
This beautiful park provides the perfect bit of peace without even leaving the city.
