An Easy But Gorgeous Hike In Enders State Forest Leads To A Little-Known River In Connecticut

Enders Brook Trail in Enders State Forest, Connecticut, offers a scenic and family-friendly hike featuring a beautiful waterfall.

One of the prettiest trails in Connecticut can be found in a quiet and peaceful state forest that's often overlooked. If you would like to see a beautiful waterfall and have a babbling brook accompany you on your short and easy hike, look no further than the Enders Brook Trail.

Enders State Forest is a 2,100-acre oasis tucked away in the town of Granby, near the Massachusetts border.

This beautiful forest was originally part of an estate donated by the Enders family, in honor of John Ostrom and Harriet Whitmore Enders. Since the state forest was established, it has grown and become an integral part of Connecticut's state park system.

The most popular trail in the park takes you to Enders Brook Falls. It's a one-mile loop trail with minimal elevation gain, making it a favorite of families.

The trail is well-maintained and even features stone steps to make the elevation gain of 137 feet easier to manage.

As you might have guessed by the trail name, the crown jewel of Enders State Forest is the cascade on Enders Brook, which is a tributary to the West Branch of the Salmon Brook.

This waterfall is picture perfect! It's a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch after a morning in the wilderness.

Spend some time walking along the brook and watching the peaceful waterfall tumble along - but please do stay on the trail, as injuries are common among those who choose to splash and play in the dangerous current on slippery rocks.

This is certainly a hike that belongs on your Constitution State bucket list! For more information about the Enders Brook Falls trail, visit AllTrails right here. Read the comments for recent conditions and find directions to the trailhead.
