A Peaceful Escape Can Be Found At Dean’s Ravine Falls In Connecticut

Don't you just love waterfalls in Connecticut? No matter the season, there's something special about seeing these magnificent cascades, whether they tower over their surroundings or are on the smaller side. One waterfall in the aptly-named Falls Village, CT that used to be pretty popular but is now not quite the draw it once was is the beautiful Dean's Ravine Falls. This 50-foot waterfall is the highlight of an easy trek through the woods, and this is such a beautiful area that it's hard not to consider it a must-visit destination. Check it out:

Dean's Ravine Falls is a cascade along Reed Brook in Falls Village, a village within Canaan.

This was once a landmark along the mighty Appalachian Trail, but in the 1980s, the 2,180-mile trail's path was slightly shifted, and today, hikers along the AT won't come across this beautiful sight.

Luckily, those who know it is here are still able to visit it today.

The 1.2-mile out-and-back trail to access the falls is considered to be of easy difficulty. There's not too much elevation gain and you won't find it too slippery unless it's been raining a lot.

The trail follows along the river's path, providing beautiful scenery.

If you park at the trailhead at Music Mountain Road and Cream Hill Road, you'll come across the falls pretty quickly in your travels.

Many hikers recommend parking a little ways down the road towards the trail's end and enjoying the hike in reverse so that you get to finish with the falls.
