The One Hikeable Lake In Connecticut That’s Simply Breathtaking In The Fall

Here in Connecticut, we're incredibly lucky to be surrounded by natural beauty. In the autumn months, Mother Nature ups her game here, blanketing the landscape with rich hues of orange, red and yellow. If there's a perfect time to hike around a lake, this is it. Make plans now to visit Crescent Lake!

Crescent Lake is located in the park on Shuttle Meadow Road in Southington.

This gorgeous park is a popular spot for hiking, picnicking, boating and fishing.The park covers 223 acres; the lake itself has 56 surface acres.

In autumn months, the trees here change the landscape from a lush, green place to one decked out in fall foliage.

You'll find three hiking trails around Crescent Lake.

The red trail goes right around the perimeter of the lake and makes a two-mile loop. The green trail is 1.5 miles and is located south of the lake. The yellow trail is hilly and more strenuous. It lies along the north portion of the lake and is three miles long.

This lake should definitely be on your fall bucket list. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy one, two or three hikes while you're here.

The park is open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. You can bring your pup along, just keep him on leash and clean up after him.

Archery hunting is allowed here from September 15th - December 31st. Make sure to stay on the marked trails while hiking.
