The Enchanting Connecticut Trail That’s Perfect For Everyone

Bluff Point State Park offers an easy, scenic hiking trail suitable for all ages and skill levels.

If you really want to see Connecticut's natural beauty up close, lace up your hiking boots and hit the trails! Here's an easy trail that takes you through some stunning scenery, and it's easy enough that hikers of all ages and skill levels can tackle it.

Bluff Point State Park includes more than 800 acres of beautiful, wild coastline. Situated along the Long Island Sound, you'll find this peninsula park along State Route 117 South, near Groton.

To explore the park, take the 3.6-mile-long Coastal Loop Trail. You'll stroll through shady, wooded spots, and you'll find a level, easy path to traverse.

Lush greenery and ferns line the path along the way...

...and you'll want to keep your eye out for pretty little wildflowers, too.

You'll have some excellent views of the Long Island Sound. Enjoy the fresh air, and bring along your camera to capture the views, as well as pretty grasses and plants.

The trail takes you right past Bluff Point Beach, and you might want to linger awhile to stick your toes in the sand and watch the waves.

This trail is easy enough for even the youngest and most inexperienced hikers! Bring along some snacks or a picnic lunch and allow yourself plenty of time to explore this pretty state park.

The park is free to visit, and is open all year long from 8 a.m. to sunset.
