As we head into a new season in the Queen City, it's best to embrace all things fall. While our forecast may not look chilly now, it is inevitable that those cooler temperatures are coming - especially when we look ahead to winter. It still feels like summer, but the Farmers' Almanac has released their annual forecast for the upcoming end of the year/beginning of next year. Take it for what you will, but the Farmers' Almanac is calling for winter in Cincinnati for 2020 to be freezing and we are likely to see above average amounts of snow. Wear your shorts now, because we will all be bundling up before you know it.

Summertime and even fall are great times to ride a roller coaster in Cincinnati. But the Farmers' Almanac is calling for a different type of coaster in our area this winter.

The 2019-2020 Winter Outlook has been released and it has us shopping for snow shovels and extra layers.

According to these predictions, our area of the country will see frozen and snowy conditions. They also mention a "Polar Coaster," indicating a lot of ups and downs on the thermometer.

The Almanac is forecasting above-average snowfalls for the Midwest, as well as frigid temperatures, especially at the end of January and beginning of February.

Of course, many remember the Blizzard of 1978, shown above. Hopefully "above average snowfall" does not mean anything close to this amount of snow for the Tristate. If you'd like to revisit this historic blizzard in photos, check out our previous article here.

We could, however, handle plenty of snowy days like this to get out and enjoy the beauty of our area.

If you love a good snowy hike, one of the best places to visit is the Cincinnati Nature Center in Milford. When their trails are safe to traverse in the snow, there's nothing more beautiful. See more here.

If you'd like to enjoy that Polar Coaster at an amusement park, Kings Island will once again host their popular Winter Fest.

While the rides aren't running in the winter, this is a great spot to visit, even if the snow is lightly falling. Bundle up and add this to your winter must-visit list this year.

Places like Perfect North Slopes would welcome snow in our area, as would those who love to ski and tube.

Of course, they will make snow when they have to, but cold and snowy weather are friends to this winter attraction. See more of Perfect North Slopes here.

And we know a few other locals who would also welcome a freezing winter in Cincinnati.

Head to the zoo and catch a penguin parade in February. They are hoping the Farmers' Almanac is correct in their prediction, but we will just have to wait and see (and shop for new snow boots!).

It's a running joke in our town that winter in Cincinnati is always a mixed bag of weather. It's typically true that we tend to see some warmth, a polar vortex or two, rain, snow, and everything in between. Sense tells us that 2020 will be no different, but we'll have to just wait and see if the freezing and snowy forecast from the Farmers' Almanac is right. Do you go by these annual predictions?
