Editor's Note: This park is indefinitely closed for cultural reasons. The grounds and trails are occasionally opened for special events, so be sure to visit the official California Parks and Rec website for updates! In the meantime, the San Diego Archaeological Center, which is located within San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park, is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

One of SoCal's best-kept secrets is this 50-acre picturesque park known for its significant historical value to California. Located in the San Pasqual Valley of Southern California, there's a park that honors the many soldiers who fought in the Mexican-American war in 1846 in one of the bloodiest battles of the war: The Battle of San Pasqual.

If you're fascinated by California's unique history, you'll definitely want to take some time to explore the park and learn more about the Battle of San Pasqual.

Not only is this a California State Park, but it's also identified as a California Historical Landmark for its statewide historical significance.

Perfect for visiting all year long, the beautifully landscaped grounds and trails provide a tranquil setting for a visit to this historic park.

As you explore the grounds, you never know what kind of wildlife you'll spot inside the park. Look closely and you'll see a glimpse of some beauties enjoying some time outdoors.

Wildlife isn't the only thing you'll see throughout the park. You'll also be drawn to the memorials placed throughout the park that honor the soldiers who fought in the battle that took place in 1846.

During park hours, you'll have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the grounds, facilities, and museum with a state park volunteer who will provide deeper insight into the history of this area.

In addition to the museum, you'll also encounter living history presentations conducted at the park by volunteers who are with the San Pasqual Battlefield Volunteer Association.

This park is only open on weekends so make sure to plan your visit accordingly. Park hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from October to March and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April to September.
