The entire trail is more than 13 miles and takes more than five hours to hike.

However, as hikers on AllTrails noted, the trail is not often well-maintained. And since we don’t recommend bushwhacking through the forest, you’ll only hike the section of the trail that goes to Scott’s Lake, or the campground.

However, you’ll be able to determine if the trail has been recently maintained when you reach these points, and if it has, by all means continue on. Either way, this hike should be a nice workout.

At 7,000 feet and increasing in elevation by 1,500, this hike is a challenging one. It’s essential to come prepared.

Pack ample snacks, water, and layered clothing to adapt to the unpredictable mountain weather. Always check the weather conditions before embarking on this adventure, especially during the snow season when snowshoes might be necessary.
