There is nothing quite like spending time with family while exploring one of the best parks in Northern California. While this part of the Golden State is home to multiple parks that are perfect for a family day trip, Kelley Park in San Jose is a must-visit. With a disc golf course, Japanese Friendship Garden, and nearby attractions like Hollow Park and Zoo, this is the perfect place to spend the day any time of year. We absolutely love this unique park in Northern California, and after you visit, you'll fall in love with it, too.
Kelley Park is one of our favorite parks in San Jose, California. You will find this park at 1300 Senter Road in the Little Saigon neighborhood.
This is not a small city park. Rather, it is 172 acres, providing plenty of space to spread out, explore, and enjoy the fresh air.
Plus, there are plenty of amenities to keep you busy and having a great time. You’ll find many traditional amenities like picnic tables, water, and walking paths.
You can also let out your competitive side and challenge friends and family on the disc golf course. Located right along Coyote Creek, this is one area of the park that you don't want to skip.
You can also spend some time exploring the Japanese Friendship Garden. This garden is where you can enjoy beautiful views and koi-filled ponds, and maybe even receive a little peace and quiet.
Nearby is also the Happy Hollow Park and Zoo. To access this area, there is an additional fee but here, you can meet dozens of animals, get a thrill on one of the amusement park rides, and more.
But that’s not all … Kelley Park is also home to History Park.
Located at the south end of Kelley Park, this incredible 14-acre area features 32 original and reproduction homes, landmarks, and more. It gives you a look into Santa Clara Valley’s past and even features a trolley you can ride.
With all there is to do and see in this park, it’s the perfect place for a day with family no matter the time of year.
