Just 20 miles southwest of Fayetteville is the historic community of Cane Hill. Once a bustling village for early settlers, this abandoned settlement serves as a reminder of early life some 200 years ago.

Boasting several hiking trails, visitors can meander through the village exploring the different historical buildings and abandoned sites.

One of the most popular trails is the 1.2-mile Heritage Trail that leads to Cane Hill Cemetery. The cemetery is the resting place of early settlers as well as Civil War soldiers who lost their lives in battle.
