The Little-Known Natural Area Hiding In Arkansas That Will Transport You To Another World

Chances are, if you live in Arkansas, you have been on several hikes. And perhaps you have seen the majestic natural wonders of our gorgeous state. While those are unique treasures, there are hidden gems hiding in Arkansas that are worthy of a trip. One such gem is Hell Creek and it’s a little-known natural area in Arkansas that is out of this world.

The Ozarks is truly a magical place filled with lots of enchanting sites to see. And Hell Creek Cave Natural Area is one that is filled with wonders.

This 260-acre natural area is located off Mountain Crest Drive near Mountain View, Arkansas. The name Hell Creek might just be an oxymoron because this natural area is nothing short of heavenly.

Though there is no designated trail, and the region is not well-maintained, it is managed by the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission.

Be sure to wear proper clothing and use bug repellent just to be cautious. The good news is, once you get to the creek, you can use it as your guide along your way.

Perhaps best known for the endangered species of crawfish and gray bats that dwell inside the caves, this hidden gem also has lots of areas to explore.

There is a vast cave system in the area as well as hollow rock formations and boulders, tiny waterfalls, flowing springs, and of course, the creek.

And speaking of water, Hell Creek is usually wet and flooded especially during the rainy season.

However, during the dry season, you can explore the countless rock formations and outcropping in the area.

And there are so many of these jaw-dropping hidden gems on the trail that you’ll believe that you’ve been transported to another world.

Don’t be afraid to go off path because you never know what otherworldly caverns you will find.

You’ll discover lots of places along the way to take pictures of this gorgeous spot. So, be sure to have your camera ready to capture every inch of this otherworldly landscape.

After you’ve trekked through the area, you’ll eventually get to the cave with the hollow rock large enough for you to walk through.

One thing’s for sure, this slice of heaven is one of the prettiest hidden gems in the Ozarks, and you’ll be convinced that you have been transported to another world.
