The history of Wiederkehr is just as rich as their wine selection. This Arkansas winery dates back more than a century.

The Wiederkehr family emigrated from Switzerland to Altus in 1880. The winemakers began by using native grapes, berries, and persimmons before the higher quality wine grapes were ready for production. The Wiederkehr's winery was only the eighth winery to be bonded in the U.S. but quickly became an iconic Arkansas gem.

The old world feel of the Wiederkehr Village is wholeheartedly felt in the underground wine cellar.

The hand-dug wine cellar was one of the first things created by the settling Wiederkehr family in 1880. Today, tours of the cellar are offered for free every 45 minutes from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day. The best part of this tour is that it includes a free wine tasting, too!

After visiting the wine cellars, you can have an intimate meal in the Weinkeller Restaurant.

The restaurant is sitting on top of the wine cellars. The flavorful European cuisine and impeccable wine pairings create the perfect atmosphere for a romantic dinner date.
