There’s A Hidden Craft Brewery On This Arkansas Farm You Have To Visit
Prestonrose Farm in Paris, Arkansas, combines a local farm with a craft brewery, offering farm-to-table and farm-to-glass experiences.
Arkansans will always go out of the way to support a local farm, especially if that farm also has a craft brewery. If you're a Paris local, you probably already know the fantastically crafted brews of Prestonrose. For anyone else, let's take a tour of this farm-residing craft brewery.
The Prestonrose Farm resides on the outskirts of Paris, just east of Subiaco.
The farm has been growing strong since 2013.
If you live around Paris you've probably already had the pleasure of tasting their veggies at the local farmers market.
The Preston's will grow just about anything but are very particular about their seeds. From tomatoes to peppers all the varieties come from heirloom seeds. They may be higher maintenance with a smaller yield but the flavor cannot be beaten.
The Prestonrose has expanded quite a bit since 2013.
They've opened a farm-to-table bistro that serves up delicious snacks like a no-cans-used hatch chili salsa. And in 2015, Prestonrose added a craft brewery to the farm.
In addition to farm-to-table they also have farm-to-glass.
The farm grows most of the beer's ingredients or sources them as locally as possible. The only process that doesn't take place on the farm is malting since there's not a malting house in the state.
The brewery started small but never lacked precision.
Liz and Mike Preston both have backgrounds in chemistry. They use the old fashion way to make small batches but implement their scientific methods in creating flavorful beers.
Over the short two years, the brewery has upgraded with bigger and better equipment.
The fantastic flavors have stayed the same (with new flavors added each season) but the batches stay pretty small. They now produce about 20 barrels a month.
We're excited to see the Prestonrose Farm and Brewing Co. continuing to grow.
They're planning to have an event venue, internships for students, and even a bed & breakfast. But don't wait to plan a visit!
