The Hike To This Secluded Beach In Arizona Is Positively Amazing
Crescent Moon Ranch offers a scenic and less crowded swimming spot at the base of Cathedral Rock in Arizona.
Cathedral Rock is perhaps the most photographed site in Arizona, and you can swim at its base when you hike to Buddha Beach at Crescent Moon Ranch. Located within the Coconino National Forest near Red Rock State Park, this hidden oasis is one of the best swimming holes in Arizona. Although the beach attracts decent crowds on summer weekends, it's significantly lesser-known than more popular nearby swimming spots like Slide Rock and Grasshopper Point. The hike to the beach is under a mile long and pretty low-key, and the ranch opens up to plenty of other hiking trails if you want more adventure.
If you're looking for a scenic place to cool off that isn't too crowded, set your sights on Crescent Moon Ranch.
Located at Red Rock Crossing, one of Sedona's famed energy vortex sites, this hidden gem destination sits at the base of the iconic Cathedral Rock.
The ranch offers easy, paved hiking trails that meander along the banks of Oak Creek and through the lush greenery of the Coconino National Forest.
Plenty of benches are available for you to rest your legs while taking in the jaw-dropping views. There is also a spacious Ramada with additional seating that can be reserved for larger gatherings.
If you're up for it, another trail leads to a lookout point that showcases Cathedral Rock like you've never seen it before. The hike is a bit challenging, but totally worth it.
Once you've explored to your heart's content, hop in the creek for a refreshing dip. Nicknamed "Buddha Beach" by the locals, this particular spot is often called one of the best swimming holes in Arizona, both for its relative seclusion and picture-perfect scenery.
The water is mostly calm, but you'll see a few mini waterfalls that cascade into the larger pool.
While summer is the best time to visit the ranch - at least, if you plan on swimming - the other seasons have their perks, as well. The fall foliage is simply breathtaking!
Visit the Coconino National Forest website for more information, including hours and entrance fees. There is also a large cabin available for rent in the park, and you'll find details about it on the CNF website, as well.
