The Most Remote Swimming Holes In Arizona Are A Must-Visit This Summer

Some places are absolutely worth the adventure to get to. And in the summer, that includes a hike to a remote swimming hole. While hiking during the summer in Arizona requires some extra precautions, you can still make plans to take a trek. There are several remote swimming holes in Arizona you may want to visit. They are located in West Clear Creek Wilderness in the community of Happy Jack on the west end and close to Camp Verde on the eastern end. While they require a long hike to get to, it's completely worth it.
Deep within the Coconino National Forest lies West Clear Creek Wilderness. Encompassing 13,600 acres, you'll find red rocks, the Mogollon Rim, and the area of Bull Pen.
It's also home to West Clear Creek which helped carve the Mogollon Rim over time and extends between Happy Jack and Camp Verde.
The most popular trail through this wilderness area is the West Clear Creek Trail. This out-and-back trail is lengthy but worth it for the gorgeous views and the opportunities to go swimming.
At 8.8 miles and with an elevation gain of 790 feet, the West Clear Creek Trail is rated as moderate.
If you're taking this trek during the summer months, try to go early in the morning, bring plenty of water and snacks, sunscreen, a sun hat, and water shoes for river crossings.
Along the way, you'll encounter several swimming holes and plenty of opportunities to go swimming. So, any time you feel hot, just go for a dip.
After a trek along the West Clear Creek Trail, a dip in the cool waters of the creek is well-deserved!
