There’s No Place On Earth Like This Incredible Cave House In Arizona
An Arizona couple built a unique and modern cave house into the side of a mountain, blending natural landscape with everyday life.
Arizona has an endless list of unique attractions. From the Grand Canyon to botanical gardens and stunning National Parks, the blending of the natural landscape with everyday life is certainly engrained in Arizona natives. Nowhere is that more apparent than the creation of the cave house. Inspired to return to a simple form of shelter, an Arizona couple has created their home in the side of a steep mountain. Let's take a look inside this incredibly unique space:
From the outside, this scenic home in Arizona may not seem too out-of-the-ordinary.
Yet if you were to step inside and take a look up, you'd realized that you'd stepped into a cave.
Despite its beautiful and modern decor, this space, which serves as a home to its owners, is built into the side of a mountain.
When the owners bought the property, they were a bit discouraged upon realizing that the land was too vertical to build on.
Fortunately, their next door neighbor happened to be a mining engineer and was in the process of building a cave house himself.
After examination, it was discovered that the rock was sturdy enough to have a dwelling space blasted out of it.
From there it was a matter of settling in and discovering just how cozy a cave home could be.
The 15-foot high ceilings even allowed for a sleeping loft to be put in place.
Another amazing feature of the site is that it produces its own spring water.
Filtered through about 80 feet of granite, pure spring water fills about 20 gallons a day.
This surprisingly chic cave house is anything but ordinary, yet it's undeniably appealing.
