Floating Down Saguaro Lake on Glowing Kayaks Is the Dreamiest Way to Spend a Night This Summer in Arizona
Offered by AZ Kayaks is an enjoyable and epic nighttime tour complete with kayaks (or paddleboards), glow sticks, and friends, on one of the most beautiful lakes in Arizona.
Are you ready for a magical experience on the water, one that can only happen at night? Offered by AZ Kayaks is an enjoyable and epic nighttime tour complete with kayaks (or paddleboards), glow sticks, and friends, on one of the most beautiful lakes in Arizona. This year, you'll want to add AZ Kayaks' Glow Float to your summer bucket list.
Based in Mesa, AZ Kayaks offers kayak rentals, paddleboard rentals, and guided water tours. This adventure outfitter is also conveniently located close to some of the most popular waterways for paddling, including the Salt River, Canyon Lake, and Saguaro Lake. Each of these bodies of water is within 20 miles of AZ Kayaks for easy pickup and dropoff of rental gear.
One tour I'm most excited for is the Glow Float. Held one weekend per month throughout the summer (and into fall), the AZ Kayaks Glow Float Event is perfect for those who enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding but want to try something different. Touted as "Arizona's largest party on the lake," this is one summer event you won't want to miss!
When signing up through the website, you'll choose one of two options: "Bringing my own equipment" or "Need to rent equipment." If you plan to bring your personal kayak or SUP, you'll only pay $5 for the glow stick package. If you're renting a kayak or SUP, there is a fee of $49 for a single kayak or SUP, $79 for a double kayak, or $99 for a double clear kayak. Before the event, you must pick up the rental gear in Mesa from AZ Kayaks, which also provides you with a universal roof rack to transport the gear, tie-down straps, life jackets, glow sticks, paddles, and a water bottle.
Once your gear is loaded onto your vehicle, you'll head to Butcher Jones Recreation Site to gather with other Glow Float attendees. Before heading out onto Saguaro Lake, you'll prep your kayak or paddleboard, don your glow sticks, and let excitement take over. This is a fun event for couples and friends and a great way to meet others as you paddle, watch the sunset, and explore the lake under a star-filled sky.
After the Glow Float, you will head back to AZ Kayaks to return your gear between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. I can't wait to book a Glow Float or Full Moon Float this summer. How about you? To book your spot, visit the AZ Kayaks website.
Another nighttime tour offered by AZ Kayaks is a Full Moon Float. Similar to a Glow Float, in addition to kayaking or paddleboarding with glow sticks, you'll be floating under the light of a full moon. This tour is also self-guided, and participants will meet at Butcher Jones Recreation Site at 5 p.m. the night of.
Arizona isn't just mountains and desert — there are numerous bodies of water for swimming, boating, and paddling throughout the state. Check out the most beautiful lakes in Arizona and plan your lakeside getaway this summer!
