Despite being a landlocked region, the Grand Canyon State has no shortage of places to cool off when temperatures (inevitably) start getting unbearable. Roper Lake State Park, located off U.S. Route 191, is one such spot, boasting some of the bluest water in Arizona.
Located five miles south of Safford, Roper Lake State Park is a popular destination for swimming, boating, fishing, and camping.
Its rich, sapphire waters are easily some of the bluest in Arizona.
At 32 acres, the lake is spacious enough for a variety of different activities.
While you're splashing the day away, enjoy absolutely breathtaking views of the majestic Mt. Graham rising up into oblivion.
Cast a line off the pier, hoping to score some largemouth bass, trout, catfish, or panfish from the lake's large population.
Even if fishing isn't your cup of tea, this vantage point is perfect for taking in the awe-inspiring vistas.
Nestled amid lush greenery, eight rustic, yet cozy log cabins are furnished with either full or bunk beds.
RV and tent campsites are also available.
Nothing quite compares to peaceful lakeside sunrises and sunsets.
Enjoy a soul-nourishing cup of morning coffee on your porch swing, giving thanks for the simple pleasures in life.
The park even has its very own hot spring!
This rock-lined pool is filled with mineral water, creating a steamy bath sure to leave you feeling rejuvenated.
If you happen to visit in early to mid-spring, expect to see a generous dusting of snow on the mountaintop.
A winter wonderland vista while we bask in the desert warmth and swim our hearts out? Don't mind if we do!
Temporary restrictions, including adjusted hours, might be in place at Roper Lake, so visit the park's website or Facebook page to learn more.
