Arizona is blessed with beautiful scenic views all over the state, including a long list of overlooks, points, and vistas. If you’ve ever wanted to check some of these high points out, you’re in luck. We created a good starter list with some essential spots to check out.
1. Airport Overlook
A short walk will lead you up a mesa to see this classic view of Sedona and the red rock buttes around the city.
2. Bright Angel Point
This view from the North Rim is seen a little less often than spots on the South Rim but the scenes still deliver incredible views!
3. Dobbins Lookout
Want to get an incredible view of Phoenix? Dobbins Point at South Mountain is definitely the way to go. Sitting at 2,330 feet in elevation, it’s perfect for a sunset (or sunrise) view of the city.
4. Gate’s Pass
If you are in need of a spot to watch the sunset for a date (or just for yourself), you have to check out Gate’s Pass in Tucson. The overlook sits in Tucson Mountain Park and requires a hike so be sure to bring plenty of water and a snack.
5. Glen Canyon Overlook
Located just off Highway 89, this overlook gives you a full view of the Glen Canyon Dam and the Colorado River.
6. Hole-in-the-Rock
This natural formation at Papago Park in Phoenix requires a very short hike (about 1/10 of a mile) to one fantastic view of the park, Phoenix, and Tempe.
7. Hopi Point
The fourth overlook along Hermit Road, this is one of the most popular viewpoints at the Grand Canyon, especially for sunrise and sunset photos. If you take a look at any random collection of images of the Grand Canyon, chances are a photo from this viewpoint will be there
8. Horseshoe Bend
What list of Arizona scenic overlooks would be complete without mentioning Horseshoe Bend? Sitting at the edge of the Glen Canyon Recreation Area it is one of the most iconic images of Arizona!
9. House Rock Valley Scenic Overlook
This overlook is located along 89A, about halfway between Fredonia and Marble Canyon, giving one incredible view of the plateau that hides Vermilion Cliffs’ unique landscapes.
10. Kachina Point
Located at the north end of Petrified Forest National Park, Kachina Point is just one place to get a fantastic view of the Painted Desert.
11. Little Colorado River Gorge Overlook
Located on the Navajo Nation near Cameron, the Little Colorado River Tribal Park offers a pretty view on the way to the Grand Canyon.
12. Massai Point
This spectacular view is found in Chiricahua National Monument and is one of many that you can find of the hoodoos and other rock formations in the park.
13. Sitgreaves Pass
Part of an old portion of Route 66 and now Oatman Highway, Sitgreaves Pass is one spot that shows that western Arizona has some seriously underrated scenic views.
14. Spider Rock Overlook
When visiting Canyon de Chelly on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona, this is perhaps the most famous landmark you will see at the park.
15. Sunset Point
This rest area is located off Interstate 17, featuring a huge sundial and beautiful views of the surrounding desert.
16. Windy Point Vista
This viewpoint on Mount Lemmon near Tucson has one fantastic view of the area while getting away from the heat!
