The One Beach In Alaska Where You Can Drive Right Up To The Water

Homer Spit Beach in Alaska offers stunning views, abundant wildlife, and easy accessibility for visitors.

Alaska is the largest state in America, and we have the beaches to prove it! With almost 34,000 miles of shoreline in the state, there are bays, coves, and beaches galore! But we have one Alaska beach whose easy accessibility makes it a favorite to drive up to. The Homer Spit Beach is not only stunning, but a great beach to take a stroll on, any time of the year.

The Homer Spit is a 4.5 mile piece of land jutting into Kachemak Bay.

This gorgeous piece of land has many beaches on it. In fact, there are actually more than a couple of places where you can drive right up the beach!

The Homer Spit Beach is at the end of the spit, and located to the left of the Land's End Resort.

There is a plenty of parking spots that line the edge of the beach. There's even a plumbed bathroom on the edge of the parking lot!

Visitors love that there is a lot of incredible wildlife within sight of shore!

Even observing for only a couple of minutes, you can see everything from sea otters to killer whales. This busy area by the docks are frequented by many types of marine life.

Homer is known for having a lot of bald eagles.

In fact, there are lots of bald eagle nests surrounding this beach area. You will frequently see many bald eagles during your time on the Homer Spit, including juveniles!

There are tons of different types of sea life that will wash up on the shore, as well.

You can find many types of sea life! Expect to see sea stars, urchins, and octopus in the shallow waters. Alaskan marine life is incredible, and to be up close and personal with these animals are amazing.

This beach is very busy, especially with the fisherman.

Many of those who come out to fish have a lot of success fishing right off the beach! The views are spectacular, as well. You can see right across the bay, and watch the boats come in and out of the harbor.

If you're feeling like a little exercise, there is also has a beautiful sidewalk for pedestrians that runs the length of the entire spit.

The entire trail is paved and runs approximately 6.4 miles. It passes many different beaches on the spit, as well as the harbor and lagoon.

This Alaska beach is truly a stunner, with many glaciers in view from your spot. The driftwood makes for excellent seating if you'd like to rest awhile.

On a windy day you may see kite surfers, as well as kayakers out in the bay. The beaches surrounding Land's End are primarily rocky beaches, but if you head towards the city of Homer you will come across some beautiful sandy beaches, as well.
