The Farmers Almanac Predicts Winter 2020 In Alabama Will Have Brisk Temps And Above Average Rainfall

Today is the first official day of fall, which means winter will be here before we know it. If you're wondering what type of weather the winter season is expected to bring, wonder no more. The Farmers' Almanac has released its extended forecast for winter 2019-2020, and here's what you can expect:

According to the Farmers' Almanac, which began in 1818, most of the United States will experience a "polar coaster" winter. This means the thermometer will experience many ups and downs as colder and warmer weather move in.

Here in Alabama, we're expected to have brisk temperatures and above average rainfall this upcoming winter season. Because of the heavy rainfall, you'll most certainly want to keep your umbrella handy.

Near Alabama's Gulf Coast, rainfall is expected to be average. However, it's expected to be above average everywhere else.

If Alabama sees any snowfall this winter season, it'll likely happen in mid-to-late November, or in early January. This will probably be a light snowfall, which means it won't stay on the ground very long. So, if you receive any snow, even if it's just a light dusting, you'd better get outside and enjoy it while you can.

Here in the Deep South, the coldest periods of the winter season are expected to occur in early December, late January, and early to mid February. Be sure to keep your scarf and gloves accessible in case you need them.
