No offense to our coastal states, but here in Montana, we know nothing beats spending a warm summer day by the lake (or on the lake, if you’re lucky). And as we prepare to welcome another gorgeous summer to the Treasure State, it’s time to start planning your next lake adventure. Flathead Lake is obviously the most popular choice, these other spots are absolutely splendid for enjoying a day of fun in the sun.

Much like pretty much everything in Whitefish, the city's lake is absolutely breathtaking. And although Whitefish City Beach can get a bit crowded in the summertime, it's still a fantastic place to spend a day. But if you're looking to practice social distancing while still making memories with your family, there are plenty of more secluded spots on the shores.

Swan Lake is located in the picturesque Seeley-Swan Valley. This eight-mile-long, mile-wide body of water is perfect for kokanee salmon and rainbow trout fishing, swimming, and boating.
