Springfield’s Birthplace of Route 66 Festival happens this weekend and you won’t want to miss it! This three day event is free and will have classic cars, motorcycles, bands, a run, vendors, food, and fun activities for the kids. This family friendly event helps commemorate Springfield’s role in the creation of America’s Mother Road.

The 7th Annual Birthplace of Route 66 Festival officially kicks off on Thursday with a showing of "Show Me 66: Main Street Through Missouri" at 7:30 p.m. at the Gillioz Theatre.

The parade begins on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The parade will start on the corner of Grant Ave. at College St.
Start Saturday with an early run with the 3.3K or 6.6K runs that will be held at the Springfield Expo Center.

Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m.
