There’s A Little Town Hidden In The Missouri Mountains And It’s The Perfect Place To Relax
We already know what many of you are going to say, but there are mountains in Missouri. Located in southeastern Missouri is the ancient St. Francois Mountain formation. This mountain range was formed roughly 1.485 billion years ago making them much older than the Appalachian or Rocky Mountains. Thus, the formations aren’t as tall as they once were. Yet, they still take the title for the highest point in our state. Tucked into these beautiful forested mountains is the quaint town of Arcadia. The mountains are calling, but this time you don’t have to leave state lines for a relaxing weekend getaway.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/nominate/
