How many times have you seen an animal and, without even thinking, just immediately say, "ahhh?" There's just something about animals, whether domestic or wild, that makes hearts melt. Going to the zoo allows us to watch and to admire wild animals. But, next time you head to the Saint Louis Zoo, add an extra bit of magic to your adventure by reserving a spot during a wild animal encounter.
Embark on an unforgettable adventure that will bring you up close with a wild animal at the Saint Louis Zoo.
In fact, the zoo offers wild animal encounters with several of its most popular residents, including hippos, giraffes, and lemurs.
Of course, you can also meet a few of those jaw-droppingly adorable penguins that just make us instinctively go "ahhhh."
Follow your tour guide to the Penguin and Puffin Coast, home to four species of penguins and an assortment of other birds.
During the hour-long tour, which costs $60 per person, you'll get an up close look at the zoo's conservation center, designed to protect Humboldt penguins, and how it works.
And, watch as zookeepers prepare the penguins meals before you get to what promises to be the highlight of your adventure...
Make new feathered friends when you meet some of the zoo's resident penguins.
Don't forget to bring your smartphone or camera - with charged batteries - to snap plenty of picture-perfect photos. Then, follow your guide through the penguin exhibit to cap off your tour.
But, before you head to the Saint Louis Zoo for your penguin encounter, make sure every one in your party is at least five years old.
Parties can be anywhere from two to 10 guests. Wild encounters are held at varying times Monday through Friday and on one Saturday per month.
Go on a wild animal encounter or just explore the Saint Louis Zoo, open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Address: Government Drive, St. Louis, MO 63110
