There’s An Abandoned Resort In Missouri That Was Never Completed And It’s Eerily Fascinating
We can find abandoned ruins scattered throughout Missouri, many of them dating back decades – sometimes even longer. However, this abandoned resort in Missouri tells a tale that begins in 2006. While you can’t visit the eerie ruins of what could have been, you can catch a glimpse of them if you know where to look.
Please note: Do not attempt to visit the abandoned Indian Ridge Resort, or you could be charged with trespassing. The local sheriff issued a warning to trespassers after the resort went viral on social media in 2021.
Developers had bold plans for Indian Ridge Resort near Table Rock Lake in Branson.
The 900-acre plan would have featured condominiums, vacation homes, and a massive resort that offered shops, a water park, a golf course, and a hotel with nearly 400 rooms.
At a cost of $1.5 billion, construction on Indian Ridge Resort got underway in 2006. Several homes neared completion when the economy hit a huge snag – the Great Recession.
That was just the beginning of the story that saw several of those involved in the project earning jail sentences for bank fraud. Several of the structures at the resort were also torn down, but many remain standing, abandoned and left to decay.
