The Gulf Coast is probably one of the state's most well known regions. It’s also one of the most historic. Both Biloxi and Ocean Springs have roots that date back to 1699! With such a rich and varied history, the Gulf Coast has seen many changes over the years – and the pictures below serve as a reminder. Take a look:

The Gulf Coast of yesteryear contained one of the state’s most beloved attractions – Marine Life.

Let the good times roll! Pictured here is the Barq’s float rolling through Biloxi during a 1950s Mardi Gras parade.

A shot of Biloxi’s Reynoir Street circa 1940s. By the time this photo was taken, Reynoir Street had been rebuilt after being destroyed by a fire in November 1900.

Years ago, there were several lighthouses on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, including this one on Ship Island. Next to the lighthouse, you’ll see the keeper’s house.
