Mississippi is home to some unique places — and Fishbone Alley is one of them. Now a must-visit destination, the alley hosts a slew of events and offers access to bars and restaurants. But what really makes Fishbone Alley incredible is the fact that it’s covered in bold graffiti art. Take a look:
Fishbone Alley is a "funky little destination that backs up to a number of restaurants and bars, featuring original local art and culture."
The alley is in the heart of downtown Gulfport. More specifically, it’s situated between 26th and 27th Avenue and 13th and 14th Streets.
Created in 2016, Fishbone Alley is still fairly new, but it's already made national headlines. It was featured in Vogue and included in the New York Post's list of "8 Amazing Streets You Never Heard Of."
Once a utility alley used for trash, Fishbone Alley has been completely transformed. Today, both sides of the alley are plastered with bold, beautiful artwork — all of which has been created by locals.
It’s all part of Gulfport’s "Call to Artists" program, which invites artists from across the coast to leave their mark on the alley.
Artists of a variety of ages, skill levels, and mediums have contributed to the unique alleyway.
Among the eye-catching artwork is a creation by Nicholas Cook. The well known Ocean Springs graffiti artist left behind his signature creation — a portrait made from spray paint.
The best part about Fishbone Alley is that it will only get more beautiful since artists have an open invitation to add to it.
As if the impressive, ever-evolving art isn’t enough of a reason to visit, there’s also the slew of events that take place in the alley. From festivals to tailgating, there’s something for everyone.
And since it's surrounded by eateries and bars, Fishbone Alley is a great visit day or night.
Address: 1301 26th Avenue, Gulfport, MS, 39501
