The Historic Restaurant In Mississippi Where You Can Still Experience The Old American South
Many visit Vicksburg for its rich Civil War history, riverfront casinos, and beautiful scenery, and if you’ve never been to Vicksburg, you’re in for a very memorable trip. While you’re checking out all the sights in this historic town, be sure to swing by this one historic restaurant in Mississippi where you can experience a true, no-frills, old American Southern meal in a very unique atmosphere.

The building and surrounding area have a history older than the state itself.

The current restaurant has been around since the 1930s. Before that, some variation of a restaurant, saloon, or bar has set up shop here since the 1890s! And even before that, the location can be traced back to a time when indigenous Americans used the area as a trading post. Its close proximity to both the Yazoo River and Glass Bayou made it a prime spot for trading goods with other tribes.

Just look at that plate!

Just be sure you come hungry because the portions are very generous!

If you know, you know!

Pictured above is the Vicksburger, which is a burger that's between not one but two grilled cheese sandwiches. Wowza!

No wonder it has been such a culinary landmark for so long!
