This 100-Acre U-Pick Farm In Mississippi Is The Perfect Way To Spend An Afternoon

Sure, you can get produce at any grocery store, but nothing compares to locally grown, freshly picked fruits and veggies. If you agree, you need to pay a visit to Charlie’s U-Pick. The 100-acre farm is brimming with fruits and veggies – all of which you can pick yourself. Promising a “pickin’ good time,” a visit to the farm is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Take a look:

Charlie’s U-Pick is located in Lucedale. As the name implies, it’s a pick-your-own farm, where you can stock up on all your favorite fruits and vegetables.

The farm opened nearly 20 years ago as a 20-acre u-pick field. Over the years, it’s grown to include 100 acres of bountiful crops.

Every summer, the farm opens its u-pick fields to the public. Though it can vary depending on weather and crop availability, the summer season usually runs from around Memorial Day until around July 4th.

When the season begins, the u-pick fields are open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

A great place to stock up on produce, the 100-acre u-pick field features 20 different types of fruits and veggies.

Among the crops, you’ll find tomatoes, peaches, strawberries, peppers, butter beans, peas, and more.

The crops are clearly marked, making it easy to find all your favorites.

Even better than the variety is the price - regardless of what you pick, it’s $11 per 5-gallon bucket. Keep in mind that it’s B.Y.O.B - bring your own bucket.

Don’t have the time to pick your own fruits and veggies? No problem; the farm sells a variety of already-picked items, such as watermelons, cantaloupes, corn, and more.

In 2017, a second Charlie’s U-Pick was opened in Wiggins. The smaller scale farm features a 50-acre u-pick field filled with tomatoes, peppers, onions, squash, cucumbers, and more.

There’s also a beautiful sunflower field at the second location.

And just like the original Charlie’s, the Wiggins location offers a huge selection of already-picked produce.
