If you’ve visited any Minnesota state park, you likely know that they are great places to spend the night. Most have wonderful campgrounds that will make you feel right at home as you pitch your tent and gather around a fire. But fewer people know that there’s actually a beautiful hotel tucked away inside one of Minnesota’s state parks. Head up to Itasca State Park not only for the beautiful views you’ll find at Minnesota’s first state park but also for the comfortable lodging you’ll find at the park’s Douglas Lodge. Check it out:
Itasca State Park is a beautiful park in northern Minnesota. As Minnesota's first state park, it covers 32,000 acres of forest, lake, river, and field. It is absolutely beautiful.
Many who visit Itasca State Park stay in the campground. There are many lovely sites that are great for groups large and small. But there's another option: booking a stay in the Douglas Lodge.
Built in 1905, this 117-year-old lodge offers comfort in a historic setting. Downstairs, you'll find a lovely lobby complete with a stone fireplace. It'll feel like visiting Itasca over a century ago!
The guest rooms are upstairs. Single rooms, which sleep two people, come with a full bed. They're outfitted in comfy linens and simple but beautiful furniture.
There are also double rooms, which sleep four. This is a great stay for anyone who'd like to experience a gorgeous state park without the trouble of camping!
In addition to the Douglas Lodge, guests can also stay in the Douglas Lodge fourplex or in one of the four all-season suites. No matter where you sleep, you'll love your visit to this historic park!
