More Options For Lakeside Camping In Minnesota

It should come as no surprise that you have many options for lakeside camping in Minnesota - it is, after all, the Land of 10,000 (really more like 15,000) Lakes. There are many private campgrounds on lakes, like Crow Wing Lake Campground, that can add a level of additional fun to the camping experience because of the amenities such facilities can offer, like playgrounds, swimming pools, and even on-site restaurants or bars. Kamp Dels, a popular family campground in southern Minnesota, is a good example of such a spot. Another private campground with a prime location is Indian Point Campground, which is located in Duluth, at the mouth of the St. Louis River where it opens into Lake Superior.

If you don't need all the fancy amenities, and you're willing to settle for running water and a bathroom to go with your picnic table and fire ring, the door to lakeside camping in Minnesota opens wide. The state park system is full of campgrounds on lakes in Minnesota. A prime example is Lake Shetek State Park in southwestern Minnesota. Lake Bronson State Park in northwestern Minnesota and Scenic State Park in the north-central part of the state also offer some stunning lakeside campsites. Father Hennepin State Park, on Mille Lacs Lake, Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park, and Temperance River State Park, along Lake Superior, also boast some sites with incredible views over large lakes.
