8 Places In Michigan Where You’re Most Likely To Spot A Celebrity
Celebrities frequently visit various notable places in Michigan, making it a hotspot for star sightings.
Famous people - they're just like us. They put on pants one leg at a time. They have similar interests to us. And they hold a special place in their hearts for Michigan, just like the rest of us. In fact, there are a number of places where you've got a good chance of spotting a celeb in our state. Here are just a few such places.
8) Detroit
Being the state's largest city, it's obvious that many celebrities make their way through town. One place in downtown, D'Mongo's Speakeasy Cafe, is known as a secret haunt to many stars as they stop in while they're in town shooting.
Here's owner Larry Mongo, left, with heartthrob Ryan Gosling, right.
And here Larry is again, this time with filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.
7) Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island
This pristine hotel resort undoubtedly is a choice destination for plenty stars and notable people.
Even off-and-on Republican presidential hopeful has been known to make his way here.
6) Allen Park
OK, so some of us would say this giant tire is the biggest thing to come out of Allen Park.
Truth is, this is also home to the Detroit Lions' training camp.
We're not sure you'll be seeing the famous athletes pumping gas at an Allen Park gas station after practice, but one can dream, right? Pictured here, Calvin Johnson.
5) Birmingham
This posh Detroit suburb is home to some of the state's wealthiest residents. So it should come as no surprise that it would also attract the Hollywood elite.
Ben Affleck would be one such celeb to make accommodations in Birmingham.
In fact, his whole family stayed there while he was filming for the Batman Vs. Superman movie.
4) Flint
We all know by now the troubles Flint is facing with its contaminated water, but troubled as it may be, it's still where famous folks like Michael Moore came from.
And considering Moore's vocal outcry over the water crisis, we wouldn't be surprised if he made a visit there and called on his Hollywood allies to join in the fight for justice.

3) St. Joseph
This lakeside west Michigan town is better known as a favorite among folks wanting to visit a quaint beach town.
Little do some people know, it's the hometown of super model/actress Kate Upton.
Though she grew up in Florida, she still has ties here and has been know to hang out in west Michigan with her beau, Detroit Tigers player Justin Verlander.
2) Grand Rapids
This city is cool in its own right, we don't really need to see a famous person here to give it that extra oomph.
But still, if we were to see heartthrob Taylor Lautner walking around, we can't say we'd mind.
The former Twilight star hails from GR, so who knows if he's still got a childhood pal there who he'd like to catch up with.
1) Traverse City
Traverse City just oozes culture. The dining scene, in particular, is top notch and attracts chefs from all over to indulge and learn from each other.
Celeb chef Mario Batali is one of them.
His wife is from Michigan, so the couple make it a point to visit as often as possible.
If you're really intent on spotting him, you may have luck at The Cook's House, one of his favorite eateries.
Who woulda thought? Thing is, we're sure there are tons of other places where you've encountered a Hollywood movie star in Michigan. We'd love to read your stories.
