Luge At Night Is The One-Of-A-Kind Winter Attraction In Michigan You Need To Experience For Yourself
Celebrate the Great Lakes State’s delightful snowy landscape when you experience this unique outdoor adventure. During the winter months, Muskegon Luge has a luge course where visitors can sled through the forest on a slide of ice. What makes this experience one-of-a-kind? You can luge at night under the starry Michigan night sky.
Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park is located in Muskegon, Michigan. The complex is nestled inside Muskegon State Park, which is right along Lake Michigan.
There are only four ice luge tracks in the United States, and this course is one of them. The 850-foot-long track is made of natural ice and has six curves with two starting points.
Participants will first receive training on how a luge sled works, how to steer, how to stop, and how to position their bodies on the sled. Speeds reach up to a staggering 30 miles per hour, and you will need to sign a waiver when you purchase your luge tickets.
You will then be fitted with a proper sled and given a helmet and arm pads to keep yourself safe. Now you’ll make the climb up to the top of the hill where you’ll sled down for the ride of your life!
Muskegon Luge makes accommodations for visitors with disabilities. The luge programs have sleds adapted with reigns for adventurers without lower body mobility. Lugers with visual or hearing impairments are also welcome and can be provided with additional or modified communication.
If you think trying out a luge in the day sounds fun, wait until you fly through the forest at night. During your training, the luge track is lit with bonfires to keep you warm and to light your way.
Once you’re finished with the two and half hour long luge session, cozy up in the welcoming Fire Garden. Hot chocolate and coffee are served while you catch your breath from your exhilarating winter adventure!
For hours and to purchase your tickets you can check out the Muskegon Luge website. The luge track isn’t the only winter activity offered at this complex; you can also ice skate through an enchanting forest trail.
