Talented artisans and spirited small businesses are what make this state unique, and any chance to celebrate this is a worthy one. If you agree, there’s a gift shop you’ll want to visit. Nestled in Historic Downtown Howell, Heart of Michigan has an enormous selection of iconic Michigan products, locally-made gifts, and Michigan-themed items.
Owners Karen and John opened their doors in 2011. Motivated by the recession to open a shop that would support other local businesses, they have a passion for sharing unique Michigan goods to locals and visitors alike.
The pasties are baked daily using a traditional Upper Peninsula recipe, but Heart of Michigan doesn’t stop with their famous Beef pasties. Flavors like Chicken, Bacon Cheeseburger, Bacon Egg and Cheese, Veggie, and Vegan are also fan favorites.
Iconic brands like Better Made, Faygo, Cherry Republic, Sanders, Win Schulers, and Germack can be found along with new items from local vendors. The wooden boxes are Michigan-shaped, completed with shrink wrap, a bow, and gift note.
Flavors offered include Red Pop, Root Beer, Vanilla Crème, Rock & Rye, Grape, and Orange.
