Oh, the French fry. It really gets the short end of the stick. Always seems to play second string to the almighty burger. But sometimes the fry takes the cake. In these cases, these restaurants really go all out and make their fries shine just as much as the main course.
Because of our proximity to Canada, no fry list would be complete without a nod to our Canadian neighbor's specialty: poutine. And Rock City Eater in Hamtramck makes a solid variety, known as Nicole's Poutine, which comes with duck confit gravy, cheese curds and even an optional yokey fried egg on top, as pictured here.
Variety is what you'll get at this spot. We recommend the parmesan garlic fries, but the steak cut fries and the sweet potato ones also are recommended.
