The Chocolate Bar Cafe is located in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, an eastern suburb of Metro Detroit.
The Alinosi family immigrated from Italy and first opened an ice cream parlor and bakery in 1921. That one shop quickly blossomed into seven franchised parlors throughout the Detroit area. Over the last 100 years, most of the locations have closed, but one parlor remains.
The Chocolate Bar Cafe likes to keep it local by serving Detroit-made Guernsey Farms Ice Cream. You can order many vintage ice cream desserts such as the banana split, the Hawaiian dream, or an old-fashioned pineapple soda.
